Whether your care is midwifery led, shared, or requires obstetric management, our team is here to support safe, respectful hospital based birth and comprehensive postpartum care rooted in trust and community.
Meet Our Team
Dr Nicole Thompson
Dr Thpompson is an OBGYN who brings a holistic, patient centered approach to care. Her background in occupational therapy and healthcare management, informs her holistic approach and supports the physical, emotional, and overall well being of her patients. Her care is rooted in trauma informed and gender affirming principles. She has special interests in recurrent pregnancy loss and pregnancy after stillbirth. She also practices at the BC Centre for Vulvar Health and teaches medical students and residents at UBC
Lori Miller RN RM DNP
Lori is a registered midwife and registered nurse with a 20 year career providing midwifery care in Richmond. With advanced training in nursing, midwifery, and family practice, her work is grounded in evidence based, client centered, and collaborative care. Lori has a long background in perinatal care and nursing education, with a special interest in baby feeding and early newborn nutrition. She brings a deep commitment to advocacy, community rooted care, and partnership to her work with the Haven Birth Program.
Dr Paxton Ting
Dr. Ting is a gynecologic surgeon and obstetrician with advanced training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Raised in Richmond after immigrating from Hong Kong, he is proud to serve the community he grew up in. His practice emphasizes patient centered, compassionate care, with clinical interests in complex gynecologic surgery, endometriosis, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, Asherman’s syndrome, and high-risk obstetrics. Dr. Ting provides continuity of care from surgery and fertility support through delivery, ensuring comprehensive support for his patients. He also speaks English, Cantonese, and conversational Mandarin.
Gina Abbott
Gina Abbott is a Medical Office Manager with over 25 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. She has extensive training in women’s and transgender health through Trans Care BC and has worked closely with trans and non-binary patients, supporting their unique needs with compassion, respect, and sensitivity. Known for her attentiveness and organizational skills, Gina creates a welcoming and supportive environment, helping patients navigate pregnancy, trauma, grief, or loss while celebrating each family’s journey.
Shelly Allardyce
Shelly Allerdyce is a maternity care professional who joined Haven Birth Collective in 2024 after careers as a veterinary assistant and in law, where she completed extensive continuing education. She brings a relational and compassionate approach to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, with a particular focus on the early postpartum period. Shelly is deeply committed to culturally safe and gender-affirming care, informed by both professional training and personal experience as a parent of a non-binary child. She is known for her warmth, attentiveness, and dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all families.
